Truist Point Stadium was envisioned as part of the City of High Point’s 2016 strategic goal to create a downtown catalyst project that would produce jobs, expand dining and shopping choices, add housing, and serve as a centralized gathering space. The stadium seats 4,800 and is home to the High Point Rockers baseball team and the Carolina Core Football Club. As part of the overall project, Stimmel worked with High Point University, the City of High Point, and Elliott Sidewalk Communities on multiple projects in and around the stadium, many funded by private donors.
The Bedrock is a three-story, 54,000 square foot mixed use building flanking the Fred & Barbara Wilson Plaza stadium entrance. The first floor is home to Stock & Grain Assembly Food Hall, providing much needed restaurants and social space at the perimeter of the stadium. The Fred & Barbara Wilson Plaza is one of three primary entrances to the stadium and provides spillover event space from the adjacent Stock & Grain Assembly Food Hall at the Bedrock. The plaza is also utilized for seasonal events by the City and Downtown High Point. Blessing Park is within the stadium and provides seating with grills, shade, play areas, a splash pad, and a small dog run at the perimeter of the park. Appling Way is a new street on the south side of the stadium, providing another pedestrian access point, in addition to services and utilities for adjacent buildings and parking areas.
