Stimmel Associates, PA is Established
The Beginning of a Legacy
After leaving his Midwestern roots, and making home in the great state of North Carolina, Doug Stimmel founded Stimmel Associates in 1986. He leveraged over 37 years of experience in Landscape Architecture and Land Planning to make Stimmel an award-winning design firm before handing over the reins in 2021. Through Doug’s leadership, Stimmel has received accolades such as a Top 100 North Carolina Small Business.
2021
Doug Stimmel Retires;
Tim Jennings Named President
Changing of the Guard
Founder Doug Stimmel retires after 35 years. A strategic leader, Doug previously served as President and CEO. Named in his place as President is Tim Jennings. He has served as Vice President for the past 25 years and is a member of the Stimmel executive management team. Tim will ensure the company's continued growth and sustainability.

Strength in Numbers
Stimmel’s leadership team adds seven partners who have a combined tenure of over 200 years at Stimmel. Partners include Tim Jennings, Neal Tucker, Kelway Howard III, Luke Dickey, Christy Turner, Kimberly Barb, and Jessie Lester. The expansion of Stimmel’s leadership team is part of the company’s planned management succession that ensures the company’s sustainability and growth in the coming decades and beyond.
2021
Dan Blackman Named Partner
Charlotte’s Leadership Team Strengthens
Dan Blackman is announced as a Partner and joins company’s executive management team. He has over 29 years’ experience partnering with private and public clients to develop character-driven, innovative design solutions and creates exceptionally engaging spaces on both large and small-scale projects. Dan leads the company’s Land Planning and Landscape Architecture team in the Charlotte market.

Stimmel Opens an
Office in Charlotte
Expanding the Stimmel Reach
With several major clients and projects in the Charlotte market, Stimmel opened its second office in West Charlotte. The addition allows Stimmel to continue to focus on further relationships while identifying new opportunities in the booming development region.

Kelway Howard
Named President
Moving Towards the Future
Kelway Howard is named as the third president in the company’s 39-year history. He has diligently worked as part of Stimmel for over 28 years and previously served as Vice President. He had been key in building Stimmel’s portfolio and culture. Kelway brings great stability and strength in the role of President.
