ARTivity on the Green is an art themed urban park in downtown Winston-Salem. The .5 acre park located between the city’s Arts District and the Innovation Quarter includes an artist performance shelter sculpted from silvery steel bands and features towering red “smokestacks” that release clouds of water vapor. The park has six entrances marked by red ground lines. The lines meander on city sidewalks of the Liberty St. / Trade St. / 6th St. / 7th St. block and climb onto the sides of buildings. ARTivity on the Green includes a mural wall built to provide a dynamic place to display art as well as to retain soil used to build the rolling hills at that side of the park. The park was funded by a private grant and spearheaded by Art for Art’s Sake, a local nonprofit.
