The Charlotte Museum of Nature is a public-private partnership between Mecklenburg County—who owns the property and facility—and Discovery Place. The museum includes a two-level museum building of approximately 27,000 sq ft and features live animals native to our region. Outdoor experiences that take advantage of its forest location include nature trails, apiary, aviary, frog bog, and education pavilion. The Museum is oriented toward Freedom Park and the Greenway, providing greater public amenities—including gardens and a community plaza.
