Forsyth County recently completed the renovation of the existing Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem and Sci-Works into a 5-story, 70,000 sq. ft innovative children’s museum, Kaleideum Downtown. Located downtown Winston-Salem, the science center & children’s museum serves as a unique educational attraction as well as an anchor for other initiatives.

The 2 existing museums began talks of a possible collaboration in early 2015, with a mission of “Inspiring wonder, curiosity, & lifelong learning in our children & community through interactive play & discovery.” As a new family destination, Kaleideum Downtown is a link between the arts and cultural district to the north and the more historic and civic district to the south. It is flanked by two public spaces, Merschel Park and Liberty Plaza.
