The High Point Police Department outgrew the re-purposed elementary school they’ve utilized since 1985. To help accommodate growth and consolidate operations, Stimmel was contracted by the City of High Point to help with the design of a new state-of-the-art Police HQ & Communications Center; remodeling and upgrading the former North State Building on Westchester Drive.
The 73,000 sq. ft. City of High Point Police HQ & Communications Center was renovated and received two additions – a new front entrance with stair tower and public elevator, and a new 16,500 sq. ft. rear addition for sally port, storage, processing, kennels/K9 unit, weight rooms, dispatch, and offices.
The new building includes open areas where officers & staff can meet & work together, as well as rooms for conferences & classes. The facility promotes safety within the building by providing separate areas for processing prisoners & community members needing administrative services.
